Year 5 Camp

Year 5 P.O.W.E.R Camp: Prayer, Obedience, Worship, Encouragement and Reading the Bible

Our Year 5 students enjoyed an unforgettable adventure at the Woodman Point Recreation Camp, marking several exciting firsts.

  • It was the first MCC Year 5 camp at a community venue.
  • Many students spent a night away from home for the first time.
  • A lot of the students tried archery and orienteering for the first time.
  • This was the first time many students had seen a pelican in the wild.

The theme for the camp focused on the letters of the word POWER (Prayer, Obedience, Worship, Encouragement and Reading the Bible).

Student Reflections:

Aiden P shared: “We learned about encouragement through toothpaste! Just like getting toothpaste back in a tube, it’s easy to say mean words but hard to take them back. Team Building Activities helped us make friends and develop teamwork skills, like working together to move ‘dynamite’ to a diffusing point without touching it! Orienteering taught us to read maps and find checkpoints around the campsite. Archery extended our vocabulary and taught us new skills. Escape From Quarantine gave us an imaginative look at the campsite’s history. Thanks to the Woodman Point staff and our teachers—Mrs Wilmot, Mr and Mrs Edwards, Mrs Geddes, Mrs Schelfhout, and Mrs O’Hara.”

Charlotte C exclaimed, “It was so amazing! It had fun activities and built friendships.”
Charlee M added, “I can’t wait for next year’s camp.”
Georgia G said, “Day 2 was the best. I loved archery, team building, and orienteering.”
Hayley B said, “I loved the dorms and the space. Thanks to the teachers and bless them.”
Sunny E: “I enjoyed the archery and sports. My favourite activity was playing frisbee.”
Edith J noted, “I loved our activities, such as Escape from Quarantine and Archery.”
Xavier W described it as “fun, joyful, and exciting, with unpredictable things.”
Thomas S stated, “The camp was great. Archery was my favourite.”

Thank you to everyone involved for making this camp a success!
